Everything you enter stays in local app storage on your iPhone or iPad and is never transmitted off the device:
| Data | Why the app keeps it |
|---|---|
| Barrels, stages, and load plans you create | So you can track a tumbling batch across its four stages |
| Rock box entries (material, Mohs hardness, origin, weight) | So your finds are easy to reload and reference |
| Grit shelf quantities | So the app can warn you before a batch runs short |
| Photos you attach to a find or a finished batch | So you can compare a stone before and after polishing |
| Your settings (theme, sound, notification preferences) | So the app remembers how you like it, between launches |
Deleting the app deletes this data. There is no cloud copy to remove because none is ever made.
Grit Ladder asks for camera access only when you choose to photograph a stone or a finished batch, and for photo library access only when you choose to pick an existing picture or save a before/after card you created. Photos you take or choose are stored only in the app's local records on your device. The app never uploads a photo, and never scans your photo library beyond the single image you pick.
If you turn on stage reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device telling you when a barrel is ready to check. These notifications are created and delivered entirely on-device through Apple's notification system — no reminder data is sent to us or to anyone else.
If you use the share button to send a before/after photo card, iOS opens the standard system share sheet. What you do with that sheet — message it, save it, airdrop it — is between you and the destination you pick. Grit Ladder itself does not see or store where a shared image goes.
Grit Ladder collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app has no account system and sends no data off the device, there is nothing to collect regardless of the user's age.
